We have a quaint little area of old Nanaimo called "Old City Quarter" that is very colorful and pretty, BUT probably not that safe at night so all of the stores have these beautiful wrought iron gates on them to keep from being robbed..

A wonderful find, great colours and super details Marion.
I noticed you wondering about the Robin shot from my brother Alun today.
I´ve noticed before that you in the "Americas" call a different bird a Robin to us in Europe.I hope these two links help

@Anthony Morgan Lambert: Thanks Anthony. I love learning new stuff. Here is a quote from Wikipedia "The American Robin (Turdus migratorius, also called North American Robin[2]) is a migratory songbird of the thrush family. It is named after the European Robin[3] because of the male's bright red breast, though the two species are not closely related." Here's the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Robin I think your robin is cuter ;>)

Lorraine from Gatineau, Canada

That's a bloody shame, I hope they re-open, they are way too artistic to remain close, although I love the Iron gate...very Victorian :) and of course now that I read your text , I know why it's locked so tightly lol

@Lorraine: It's OK Lorraine. They were closed because it was Sunday evening. They have regular open hours.

Very colorful and a little sad that this is necessary. It's the same in many places.

What a beautiful way to keep the thieves out, smashing shot Marion and with a little bit more fading that door would be "PINK". ;>)

This is a beautiful entry; it's just sad that they have to use iron bars to secure the building after dark. :(
