The eye has it.Posted by Marion (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) on 13 August 2008 in Animal & Insect and Portfolio. Cleo has such beautiful eyes as you can see here. So here it is "spotlighted". Back from our four day adventure on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Most days were bright and beautiful. I hope you enjoy my pictures.

Well done! 13 Aug 2008 10:19am Lorraine from Gatineau, CanadaLike looking at a jewel, she's so beautiful, looks like my Kimmi too ;) 13 Aug 2008 11:44am Lorraine from Gatineau, Canadaor deep coral reef, same colours I posted comment before I finished 13 Aug 2008 11:45am Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesYou did a super, super job on this, Marion! 13 Aug 2008 12:52pm @Judy: Thanks Judy. It was a fun experiment. She is kind of a pretty cat, noisy, but cute. Tracey from White Hall, United StatesNow this one I love! I think the subject is a much better choice than the flowers! The clarity in the cat's eye is striking. Well done! 13 Aug 2008 1:06pm Chris from South Jersey, United StatesGreat selective coloring - really striking image. Well done.... 13 Aug 2008 2:18pm Ron from Saint Louis, United StatesStunning work, Marion ... the clarity and color in the eye are astounding! The eye looks like a picture unto itself ... life a scene from the painted desert - blue sky and burnt umber sands. I'm mesmerized by this image, Marion! 13 Aug 2008 2:35pm @Ron: Thank you Ron for your lovely comment. Cleo's eyes are mesmerizing ... Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaWonderful. Such a powerful and beautiful image, Marion. 13 Aug 2008 3:08pm Anthony from GermanyYou have realy got the hang of this Marion, what programm are you using ? 13 Aug 2008 4:05pm @Anthony: I am using Picasa2 to do it. It is a little limiting, but I thought it fun. Have to invest in Photoshop so I can do both eyes :D. thanks Anthony. Cats do rule!! Jrask from Pasadena, United Statessimply amazing work Marion, for someone who claims to have little selective color experience, this is phenomenal!! I hope you don't mind my saying either, but this is a much sharper and detailed selective color compared to your image yesterday, so well done! 13 Aug 2008 4:10pm @Jrask: Thanks Josh for your very kind comment. I don't mind you saying that this one was sharper than yesterday's. I used my macro lens to photograph Cleo and just my carry round lens for the flowers and probably snapped it in a hurry. Francesc B. from région parisienne, FranceGreat portrait, Marion... Wow... this eye ! good processing... But you forgot the second eye... Even if we see only a single eye, I miss the color on the second eye... I have a bad impression, as if Cleo was blind in one eye. 13 Aug 2008 5:28pm @Francesc B.: I didn't do this in Photoshop, but used another program that only gives you the option of one spot to color. I know what you are saying but I assure you Cleo is not blind in her other eye. I probably should have cropped it in closer so that you could only see the one eye!! Observing from West Cheshire, United KingdomSomebody is becoming quite an expert :) Lovely photo and a great idea Marion !! 13 Aug 2008 8:07pm @Observing: Thank you Mike for those kind words. I wouldn't go as far as saying that I am even getting close to being an expert, but am trying to learn. I am going to spend a few hours with Amy and learn a few more tricks. Namaki from Bordeaux, Francethis is a beautiful picture ! the eye has extraordinary colours ... excellent job ! 13 Aug 2008 9:38pm Eric Fry from Houston, TX, United StatesGreat selective saturation, Marion, what an incredible eye you both have! 13 Aug 2008 10:21pm @Eric Fry: Thank you so much Eric. dj.tigersprout from San Bruno, CA, United Statesgorgeous -- seems like you have this selective coloring down pat! you are a pro!! :) 13 Aug 2008 11:05pm @dj.tigersprout: You are too kind, but thanks. I am going to go check out my image in the mirror to make sure my head hasn't swelled!! Sandrine from Cincinnati, United StatesWOW! amazing eye! Excellent shot and processing! 14 Aug 2008 12:42am Gary from Cochise County, United StatesThat's pretty wild Marion. I don't know if you used special processing or that is just the real thing. Nice effect regardless. 14 Aug 2008 2:16am @Gary: Thanks Gary. Special processing in that I turned everything black and white except her eye and that is the exact color of Cleo's eye. She has incredibly beautiful eyes. Ronnie 2¢ from London, United KingdomAs a cat-person, I often find myself wondering how the world looks to them. They love to stare at what seems to me to be nothing much at all. Makes me wonder what I'm missing! Lovely shot and process. 14 Aug 2008 9:43am @Ronnie 2¢: I know, I just love cats and have decided if I come back as anything, which I know you don't, I will come back as a much loved and pampered cat. Stéphane from Bruxelles, BelgiumBeautiful eye. I would like to see both of them in color, so I hope you will invest in photoshop as you said to Anthony. Kind Regards 14 Aug 2008 8:20pm @Stéphane: Thanks Stephanie, I do have Paint Shop Pro and use it all the time. I love it. These last two pictures were my first attempt and I am just going to have to learn a little more. and have been getting many helpful hints from other bloggers which I really appreciate |
