Oregon Lighthouses i

Posted by Marion (Nanaimo, BC, Canada) on 23 June 2008 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Last October my sister and I and our wonderful husbands (they came along for the ride) travelled down the Oregon Coast and got hundreds of pictures. We visted as many of the lighthouses as we could. This is the Yaquina Head lighthouse. One of the moust beautiful lighthoues in America, is a classic seacoast tower. Illuminated in 1873, its first-order Fresnel lens still shines. The 95-foot white. conical tower is the tallest on the Oregon coast and stands proudly 162 feet above sea level in Newport, Oregon. It was a grey windy day and I took lots of shots as I stood shivering in the cold wind. This is my favorite ... to me it depicts such moodiness and I love the two gulls in flight just above this very tall lighthouse. yes we climbed to the top.

Back from our four day adventure on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. Most days were bright and beautiful. I hope you enjoy my pictures.
