This shot makes me think of royalty (the crowned pods) interspersed with four lovely maidens. 8 Jun 2008 10:38am Judy from Brooksville-Florida,, United StatesWONDERFUL shot, Marion - a few open and many to come, hopefully in the next week! xx 8 Jun 2008 11:15am @Judy: This was last year's picture and they have all been cleared away by park management. Tomorrow's picture is of one that I planted last year and finally bloomed. I got it from the nursery. Michael Skorulski from Cigel, SlovakiaLovely. I have some strange transplants in some of my gardens too... (Ever hear of velvet weed? -- I through in some seeds and some are growing there now.) 9 Jun 2008 2:54am @Earnest: Thanks Earnest. No I had never heard of velvet weed but I goggled it and found out that it is very invasive and grows to 6 - 7 ft tall. Although the flowers on it are quite pretty. These wild poppies can grow around here anytime they want. I find them quite beautiful too.
